Overview
All the policies within this document apply to the services supplied by dusk.host. This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) supplements our Terms of Service which all clients must agree to prior to ordering any product or service from us.
Content Policy
All our hosting services may only be utilized for hosting lawful content. We are very strict in implementing this rule, and we will not hesitate to provide your information to the appropriate authorities should any violation be found.
All hosting plans that are not specifically labelled for "backups" or "archival purposes" may not be used to store files or archives that are not public-facing. Furthermore, you may not host proxies and file hosting / file sharing services.
Our backup hosting plans are provided mainly for archival purposes. Clients are allowed to use the entirety of their allocated space to store their backups, archives, and other non-public facing files. Further, since these plans also include a web server, clients are allowed to serve public files through HTTP(S), and they may choose to host a syncing app (e.g., Nextcloud) on the same account. Since these plans are primarily for backup usage, your mileage may vary when it comes to web server performance.
Strictly forbidden types of content include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Anything illegal in the countries where our servers are located and/or your residing country
- Harassment, threats, hate speech
- Promotion of spam and phishing
- Copyright infringement
If you are unsure whether or not your content is allowed on our platform, please reach out to us.
Resource Usage
We have certain limitations in place to protect our clients from poor service performance. We reserve the right to suspend any client account if we deem their resource usage to be excessive.
Resource Limits for Shared Hosting Accounts / Reseller Hosting Main Accounts / Reseller Hosting Sub-accounts:
Resource Type | Allocation |
---|---|
CPU | Up to 1 core |
Memory (RAM) | 1GB |
Entry Processes | 200 |
I/O Usage | 80 MB/s |
IOPS | 15,000 |
Resource Limits for Enterprise Hosting Accounts / WordPress Hosting Accounts:
Resource Type | Allocation |
---|---|
CPU | Up to 2 cores |
Memory (RAM) | 2GB |
Entry Processes | 200 |
I/O Usage | 80 MB/s |
IOPS | 15,000 |
The following service categories are subject to fair-share usage of resources:
- Shared Hosting
- Enterprise Hosting
- WordPress Hosting
- Reseller Hosting
This means that while you have access to the advertised amount of resources, you are not allowed to use 100% of your allocation 24/7 as these resources are not dedicated to your account only. You are allowed to use 100% of the resources in bursts to accommodate intensive processes or a sudden fluctuation in requests. We reserve the right to determine which accounts are overusing their resource allocation, and to suspend said accounts if deemed necessary.
Storage hosting accounts are not guaranteed any other type of resource aside from the advertised storage space.
Virtual private servers (VPS) have access to the entirety of their allocated resources as advertised. VPS CPU cores are not dedicated and are subject to fair use. We reserve the right to determine whether or not a virtual server's CPU usage is excessive or not.
Email Usage
Email usage is strictly forbidden on all of our storage hosting plans. Any attempts to circumvent this policy will result in the suspension / termination of the offending client account(s).
Shared hosting accounts are allowed to send a maximum of 1,200 emails per day. Each user account under a reseller hosting account has the same sending limit as regular shared hosting accounts. Managed VPS customers can have a custom limit arranged depending on their use-case.
dusk.host permits clients to send out transactional mail.
Clients are prohibited from using dusk.host services to send out any kind of spam. Whether or not a certain mailing activity is considered as "spamming" is subject to our sole discretion. Please contact us if you are unsure if your specific mailing usage is allowed on our platform.
Data Transfer and Bandwidth
Unless otherwise stated, we do not impose hard limits on bandwidth usage on most of our plans. Any plan that is labelled with "unlimited bandwidth" will not have a hard cap on the amount of data you can transfer in/out in a month. Do note that any potential bandwidth abuse will lead to your account being flagged by our system and we may suspend your service(s) with or without notice. Here are some examples of potential bandwidth abuse:
- Hosting speed testing files
- Using our services as download mirror for media or any other files that are not part of your client-facing website
- Using your web hosting account as backup storage and using our network to distribute said backups
These are only examples and actions classified as "bandwidth abuse" are not limited to the above.
Acceptable Use Policy Updates
dusk.host reserves the right to alter, revise, update and change this Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) in any way without notice at any time under our sole discretion and can apply any and all changes and updates retroactively.
